Horsehair Pottery

We offer some beautiful horsehair pottery in our Gallery. Horsehair pottery is a Native American art form that dates back years. As its name implies, it is made by throwing horsehair onto the pottery during firing. The horsehair burns when it touches the hot pottery and leaves a carbon stain cooked into it, making a beautiful and unique one of a kind pattern on each piece. Some of the pieces are made to fit a small light inside (such as the bear sculpture shown below), causing the pottery to glow in a most exquisite way.

Shown are just two styles currently available. We also have several other styles.
